Instituto Bernabeu develops an innovative embryo traceability system to ensure maximum safety in IVF laboratories

Instituto Bernabeu has taken a decisive step in the field of reproductive medicine with the design and implementation of a new embryo traceability software system, already operational in all its assisted reproduction laboratories.

Dr. Jorge Ten, Director of the Embryology Unit, explains that this is the “VRepro Witness system, developed in collaboration with the technology company Naturalsoft, the result of several years of joint work. This innovation optimizes processes in in vitro fertilization laboratories and guarantees absolute control over every critical stage, from oocyte retrieval to embryo transfer.”

One of the main advantages of this tool lies in its comprehensive integration into a single platform. The software consolidates in one environment the clinical history, imaging, and embryonic development monitoring together with the traceability system. This provides Instituto Bernabeu embryologists with centralized, interconnected information, enabling more agile and secure data management throughout treatment.

The system also incorporates advanced functions that enhance safety during the most sensitive procedures. Among them, it is worth noting the dual verification by a second specialist in critical processes such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection or oocyte cryopreservation. This protocol strengthens reliability and minimizes the margin of error, providing reassurance for both patients and medical teams.

Another distinctive feature of this tailor-made software is its ability to automatically recognize and record the materials used in each procedure. Thanks to this functionality, the laboratory can precisely track the resources employed in every intervention, thereby adding an additional layer of traceability and safety on top of human control.

Already implemented in all Instituto Bernabeu in vitro fertilization laboratories, this technological advancement makes it possible to unify clinical and laboratory management in a single platform. Its adoption reinforces quality and safety standards in assisted reproduction and establishes a new benchmark in the use of digital tools applied to reproductive medicine.
