Dr Andrea Bernabeu discussed the importance of the microbiome study in infertile women at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology pre-congress course.

On June 25th, Dr Andrea Bernabeu, Instituto Bernabeu medical co-director, will take part in a course prior to the most important fertility congress in the world, the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) Congress, where the subject How to improve success rates: the great debates in assisted reproduction, will be discussed.

Specifically, Dr Bernabeu will defend the importance of studying the microbiome of women with reproductive problems. In her presentation, Instituto Bernabeu’s medical co-director will review the main scientific findings related to the microbiome role in fertility, explaining the role of female genital tract microbiota plays in fertility treatments.

Among her conclusions, the gynaecologist will present recommendations on when the vaginal microbiota testing should be considered for women with problems in achieving an evolutive pregnancy and to what candidates this type of testing should be directed.

The ESHRE Congress 39th edition will be held in Copenhagen (Denmark) from June 26 to 28. A major event for Instituto Bernabeu Group, where a large part of its medical team will be attending to present its latest research.

The Scientific Committee has highlighted 12 scientific studies from Instituto Bernabeu, six of which will be presented at this top-level scientific forum as oral presentations. In addition, another study has been selected for presentation as a featured poster.
