The Rafael Bernabeu Foundation celebrates the awards ceremony of the 11th edition of the Children’s and Youngsters’ Drawing Contest about Motherhood
May, 9th 2025

The winners of this 11th edition were:
• Sofía Yugova, first price in the Children’s Category (5 to 8 years old).
• Asier Nuño, first prize in the Youth Category (9 to 13 years old).
• Gerard Sempere and Emma López, second prize in each category, respectively.
The creativity and sensitivity of the youngest children were once again protagonists in the eleventh edition of the Maternity Drawing Competition, a cultural event organised by the Rafael Bernabeu Foundation, which this year attracted hundreds of participants from all over Spain.
The initiative aims to promote the communication and development of tomorrow’s adults through their artistic expression on the theme of motherhood. A theme deeply linked to childhood and to the daily activity of Instituto Bernabeu.
Yesterday afternoon we celebrated in our Auditorium in Alicante, for all the children who participated and were able to attend, their families and teachers, the awards ceremony, together with an unforgettable magic show by the hand of the Magician Dalux, an event full of celebration and tribute to all the young participants and to congratulate them for their wonderful drawings because they are all worthy of mention and admiration! Afterwards, we shared a snack in our gardens and the exhibition of the finalists’ works was inaugurated and will be on display until September. The virtual gallery with all the participating drawings will remain visible until the next edition on the Foundation’s website.
During her speech, Sómnica Bernabeu, director of the Foundation, thanked the involvement of parents and teachers, thanks to whom this initiative, edition after edition, is a great success. She also stressed the importance of dedicating our efforts as a society to artistic development. ‘The aim of this competition is to encourage children and young people to participate in collective proposals that open up new horizons for them and help them to find in art a means of inner expression’.
For the jury, chaired by Mr. Federico Mingot, member of the Valencian Association of Art Critics and composed of the director of the Foundation as secretary and graduate in Fine Arts, two children who were finalists in previous editions and two people from the Institution, the choice of finalists and winners has been especially difficult due to the high artistic level, the originality of the proposals and the emotion with which the participants have been able to reflect motherhood from their intimate gaze. A difficult choice, because they are all worthy of being highlighted! The variety of techniques, styles and approaches, has highlighted the talent and sensitivity of the children and young people who have participated in this 11th edition.
In the 5 to 8 years old category, Sofía Yugova won the first prize in this edition. Second prize in the same category went to Gerard Sempere.
In the Youth category (9 to 13 years old), Asier Nuño won first prize, with second place going to Emma López.
The winners received cultural vouchers of 300 and 100 euros (first and second prizes, respectively), exchangeable for books, music or art from Fnac. In addition, twelve finalists per category were awarded a diploma and a special gift.
