Instituto Bernabeu’s medical co-director, Dr Andrea Bernabeu, participates in the second Fertypharm Fertility Seminar

Instituto Bernabeu leads different lines of research about vaginal microbiome and the importance of its balance in achieving pregnancy and having a healthy pregnancy. Instituto Bernabeu’s medical co-director, Dr Andrea Bernabeu, an expert in this field with several published studies and ongoing research, has been invited to participate in the specialists round table, within the framework of the second Fertility Conference, organised by Fertypharm on October 4 and 5. For this occasion, the meeting has focused on the «Probiotics impact before, during and after assisted reproduction treatment».

Dr Bernabeu’s extensive research work in this field includes scientific articles with detailed studies and a meta-analysis on the implications of the microbiome and vaginal dysbiosis on infertility and fertility treatment outcomes. Her research expertise is important to understand whether the composition of the vaginal microbiome can condition reproductive health.

In this expert forum, the Instituto Bernabeu medical co-director discussed, among other issues, the best way to administer a probiotic to patients. She also had the opportunity to highlight those combinations of lactobacillus that are most effective in treating the hormonal changes causing vaginal dysbiosis and the importance of the use of probiotics in the regression of chronic endometritis.
