Instituto Bernabeu discusses the efficacy of dual stimulation (dual stim) in patients with low ovarian reserve at the Born X Life meeting in Madrid

Instituto Bernabeu travelled to Madrid to attend the Born X Life scientific meeting organised by Merck on April 1st. Instituto Bernabeu medical co-director, Dr Andrea Bernabeu, participated in the panel discussion “Individualising treatment: each patient is unique“. The expert has addressed “the paradigm change in folliculogenesis with the discovery of follicular surges that has allowed the configuration of new stimulation protocols which she exposed in her presentation “Protocols to optimise the cycle“.

Dr Bernabeu warns that “the aim of these new therapeutic strategies is to improve success rates in women with a poorer prognosis, such as patients with low ovarian reserve and/or low ovarian response“.

In its constant line of research, Instituto Bernabeu has spent years developing studies on the efficacy of this strategy in cases of patients with low ovarian response. The dual stim or double stimulation protocol allows us to optimise the results in this patient profile, obtaining better live birth rates and reducing the drop-out rate”.

This research has been presented at the world’s leading congresses in the field, including ESHRE 2019 and 2021 and SEF 2020.

The scientific meeting, which could also be followed online, was held over several days and at different venues. On March 30th, the Embryology Unit director, Dr Jorge Ten, participated in the Born X Life meeting, which also took place in Barcelona, with his presentationTowards a more efficient laboratory“.
