Instituto Bernabeu Embryology Unit director addresses the embryo biopsy influence on an on-line lecture for Chinese specialists

Instituto Bernabeu Embryology Unit director, doctor Jorge Ten, offers a virtual lecture aimed towards Chinese Healthcare professionals on September 23rd. The on-line talk is organised by Shangai InMed Medical Technology and it’s framed under the name: Is mosaicism and its characteristics influenced by the method of trophectoderm-biopsy technique employed in PGT-A cycles? Doctor Ten explains all studies developed by Instituto Bernabeu over the last years about the embryo biopsy to offer useful experience reference to the Chinese specialists for their everyday practice.

Instituto Bernabeu has a large experience and since 2013 performs the embryo biopsy in blastocyst stage (day 5 – 6 of embryo development). This knowledge is translated into many different scientific works about the biopsy influence on the genetics or chromosome results and the clinical results. Among all investigations we would like to highlight the study made to find out the embryo impact according to the analysed cell number. Or the study about the pulling technique impact, associated with an increase of the laser use and, the flicking, which needs less laser shots per biopsied embryo. Instituto Bernabeu discovered that “with the use of the flicking technique there were less mosaic embryos but they were more complex”, explains the Embryology Unit director.

Doctor Ten talks to the Chinese experts about the discoveries made by Instituto Bernabeu over the years. “We are worried about the embryo manipulation effect”, this is the reason why we are interested in study its impact. “This information we are about to share can be useful to all scientific community when facing an embryo biopsy”, concludes.
