Instituto Bernabeu in Albacete delivers a seminar on embryology for students of Medicine at Castilla La Mancha University

Instituto Bernabeu in Albacete is actively involved in the community in Castilla La Mancha. Its work includes talks, workshops and courses in which staff from the reproductive medicine clinic participate. Instituto Bernabeu researchers collaborate and participate in the training courses for future specialists and they help to teach them the techniques and processes that are used in reproductive medicine.

On this occasion, gynaecologist María Antonia López Rubio and biologist Iván Ochando delivered a seminar for University of Castilla La Mancha Medicine students with the aim of bringing the future doctors into contact with the use of clinical embryology when treating reproductive medicine patients and addressing interaction between doctors and biologists.

Dr López Rubio highlights the importance of putting Medicine students in touch with embryology and that this knowledge could open professional doors in the future. During the event, the gynaecologist highlighted the importance of the joint effort made by doctors and biologists in order to help patients get pregnant and explained how this is achieved at Instituto Bernabeu in Albacete. The students also gained an understanding of how to apply genetics techniques, such as pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), which facilitate detection of chromosomal and genetic abnormalities in embryos prior to transfer so that children are born healthy.

Since 2016, Instituto Bernabeu in Albacete has had an agreement with the University of Castilla La Mancha and this materialises in the Master’s Course in Male Infertility. Specialists at Instituto Bernabeu in Albacete frequently participate in training courses and refresher training events.
