Instituto Bernabeu in Cartagena organises a medical event to address progress in treatment of uterine fibroids

Instituto Bernabeu in Cartagena is organising a scientific event to address progress in the treatment of uterine fibroids. The event will be held on Friday, 31st January in the graduation room at the Polytechnic University in Cartagena. This is just one of many scientific events that the clinic regularly organises at its Cartagena branch. The purpose of the events is to improve knowledge of reproductive health.

Following an introduction by Dr Carolina Tovar from Instituto Bernabeu in Cartagena, the Medical Director of Instituto Bernabeu, Dr Rafael Bernabeu, will begin the lectures by addressing attitude to medical treatment of fibroids: fertility and pregnancy loss. Afterwards, the manager of the Gynaecology Department at University Hospital Santa Lucia in Cartagena, Dr Paloma Ortega, will address updates in medical management of uterine fibroids. The event will continue with a lecture about progress in laparoscopic treatment of fibroids. This will be delivered by the head of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at the Regional University Hospital of Malaga, Dr Jesús S. Jiménez. Carmane Martín Ondarza, a doctor at Instituto Bernabeu in Madrid, will conclude the event by addressing radiofrequency treatment of uterine fibroids. Following her intervention, the floor will be open to questions.

The event is aimed at gynaecologists, biologists, geneticists and students in the field of healthcare. Registration is free and there are a maximum of eighty available places. Registration ends on 30th January.

Benign uterine fibroids are amongst the most common tumours in women and they can pose challenges for women who wish to get pregnant. Symptoms include bleeding or heavy and painful periods. Fibroids can be detected during routine gynaecological check-ups.
