Ten items of research work will be presented in the ESHRE 2015 International Meeting

The Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology(ESHRE) is the most significant international gathering of specialists in the field of reproductive medicine. Our group, Instituto Bernabeu, will play a very active role in the 31stedition since ESHRE’s scientific committee has selected 10 pieces of research work led by Instituto Bernabeu personnel: two publications which shall be presented in oral presentations and eight posters.

From 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, 16th June, our colleague, Jorge Ten, Director of the Reproductive Biology Operational Unit, will give a presentation entitled ‘Number of trophectoderm cells removed for biopsy is correlated with first trimester miscarriage’. The investigation studied the optimum time for embryo biopsy and findings indicated that ‘the cells which give rise to the placenta and extraembryonic tissuesplay a crucial role in the maintenance of early stages of embryo development.’

On 17th June, our colleague Belén Lledó, Scientific Director of Instituto Bernabeu Biotech, will give a presentation entitled‘Altered FISH in sperm, would you be indicated Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)? » This line of work has demonstrated that ‘males with FISH inaltered spermare more likely to produce embryos with chromosomal abnormalities. Therefore, genetic diagnosis of embryos from couples may reduce the number of failed implants and miscarriages.’

Personalised investigation, as promoted by Instituto Bernabeu and on which a large part of our team works on a full or part-time basis, is a central pillar in obtaining improved results amongst patients. Such practices lead to personalised treatment for our patients and individual solutions, with particular focus on our units specialising in low ovarian responseand implant failure and repeat miscarriages.
