Instituto Bernabeu and University of Alicante have set up the first Reproductive Medicine Chair to study complex infertility cases.

THE COOPERATION AGREEMENT IS THE CULMINATION OF A 12 YEARS RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN BOTH INSTITUTIONS AND AIMS THE RESEARCH OF NEW TREATMENTS

The aim of this new Chair, officially presented yesterday at the Instituto Bernabeu Auditorium in Alicante in the presence of University of Alicante Rector Mr. Manuel Palomar, is the search for treatments to solve extreme infertility cases, as well as disclosure and dissemination of knowledge about new fertility techniques. The studies will aim to increase success rates in reproductive therapies.

The Reproductive Medicine Chair, with a clear international vision, is the result of 12 years cooperation between Instituto Bernabeu and University of Alicante through the Biotechnology, Agrochemical and Molecular Biology Departments. In fact, since 2008, University of Alicante has lecturers from Instituto Bernabeu that have helped in the different researches carried out.  Another novelty produced with this agreement is the incorporation of the Master in Reproductive Medicine to the Chair, which will begin its second edition next year.

With the launch of the Chair, which will have three foundations: training, research and a social aspect, Instituto Bernabeu continues with their patronage and support to the research linked with reproductive medicine through the social work of Rafael Bernabeu Foundation.

At the start of the Chair held today, Dr. Rafael Bernabeu has claimed that Instituto Bernabeu’s support to the university is focused « in the development of the intellectual potential, knowledge management and rigour ».  Dr. Bernabeu has highlighted the cooperation with the University of Alicante in the last few years and he has pointed out that part of Instituto’s benefits are dedicated to research and development. In particular, Instituto Bernabeu allocated more the 1 million euros to I+D+i during 2012.
