The Alicante Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Instituto Bernabeu group's genetics research company as the most innovative company of 2010. It was also recognised in 2010 with the national SEF research award for its embryo metabolomics programme.

IB BIOTECH was one of the first international companies to offer a wide range of genetic services online, which simplify and reduce costs of tests that were previously expensive and restricted to hospitals.

The "Alicante economics night" which was held last night in the Alicante auditorium ADDA was the scene of the highest recognitions awarded every year by the Alicante Chamber of Commerce. About 90 companies applied as candidates in this 37th edition. Sómnica Bernabeu received the award from the president of COEPA, Rafael Martínez Berna.

It has been added to the traditional medical services after observing the benefits of genetics for health, prevention and quality of life.

IB BIOTECH is a newly established company -created in 2009- with the experience of the Instituto Bernabeu genetics and molecular biology department, which has a reputable career and research to back it up. The following examples are the outcome of the Instituto Bernabeu geneticists' experience:

* The first worldwide birth in summer 2004 of a girl born free of hereditary blindness (Retinoschisis).
* The first application of the MDA technique in PGD, being the first worldwide birth in February 2006 of a boy born without Marfan Syndrome, among others.

Contrary to the field of health biotechnology in Spain, which is highly specific and competitive, IB BIOTECH was established with a completely different business strategy and generated a revolution: the novelty of a new, attractive and reliable product guaranteed by the proven experience of the Instituto Bernabeu group. This has provoked a radical change:

- 1. - In the distribution channel. The market is no longer reduced to an exclusively health and medical field, as it challenges the popular belief about genetics, which is often considered to be complicated and inaccessible, by becoming medical, affordable and accessible to everyone, with the simplicity of being able to order it online from the comfort of your own home.

- 2. - The end user. Through e-commerce and our sales platform: www.ibbiotech.com, the end user no longer has to leave home to make important decisions about his/her health and tests.

- 3. - In the product. Bothersome blood samples are no longer needed, as a simple saliva sample is enough that the patient can take him/herself at home with the cotton swabs sent after ordering the test.

- 4. - In the market: creating a new demand that didn't exist before: "Genetics from home: genetics for you". Taking down boundaries and becoming accessible from any location. In fact, the largest group of clients lives outside the province and in several countries such as England, Italy and Germany.

The leading technology and the team's constant research allow the range of genetic services to constantly expand.
