In many occasions and because of different reasons (age, hereditary diseases, previous surgeries, etc.) the ovary loses the capacity to produce healthy eggs essential for the conception.
In the above mentioned cases, the Egg Donation Program, according to the legislation in force, is a common resource to achieve gestation.
Donation is an anonymous procedure where the donor, after a suitable and strict selection, that includes complete blood tests, medical checkups, psychological and gynaecological tests, a karyotype and a genetic profile research that rejects that different pathologies can be transmitted, provides an egg which is compatible with the recipient woman. After studying the compatibility with the recipient couple, the cycle is started in order to obtain a suitable amount of eggs that can be donated.
Following an IVF process, ], the resulting eggs are transferred to the recipient patient, which will enable her to develop a gestation, a labour and lactation within normality. After the labour, the new born is registered as a child of the woman as in any other birth.
The success figures per cycle are around 60%.
